2008-03-10 Foreign Minister discusses potential development of bilateral co-operation with Chinese Ambassador On 10 March the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China
to the Republic of Latvia, Zhang
Limin, made an introductory visit to the Foreign Minister, Maris Riekstins. At the meeting, Minister Riekstins commended the development of bilateral relations, and stressed the potential of the economic dimension in co-operation, especially in the area
of transport. The parties voiced
satisfaction with the present intensity
of the Latvia-China political consultations, which provide the opportunity
to follow the trends of bilateral
relations, as well as to exchange
views on current events in international politics. Foreign Minister confirmed that Latvia will consistently continue to observe the One-China policy. Likewise, the Minister wished the Chinese people every success in hosting two events of international significance: the Beijing Olympic Games and the ASEM (the Asia-Europe Meeting) Summit. |
